Letting Your Light Shine

I took myself out for lunch today and it was a peaceful lunch date to sit and reflect on the gratitude I have in my life and for my life. I practiced my self-care by eating something that I know my body responds well to, so it was a cup of Green tea and a delicious salad made with greens and things like beets & avocado that I know when I eat this way makes my body feel so good! There are many instances I can’t be so kind to my body, so this is a continuous work in progress!

I sat there people watching, I remembered to say “Miigwetch for the food I was going to eat and to say a little prayer for the people who had prepared the food”. The sun was high in the sky and I was grateful I was sitting under a little umbrella. I also had my hat on to protect me from the hot sun rays!

I remember when I wasn’t able to go out to eat on my own without feeling lonely, or somehow pitiful like no one loved me or I had no friends, I sure have had a lot of self-judgment and overthinking to overcome in my life! I am grateful I have learned I am not alone, my spirit, my ancestors and my Creator are always with me.

But I’m happy to report, it’s been a journey that I’m grateful I have walked and can now do things such as a “lunch date with myself, and be totally happy and peaceful”. This journey to self-love, self-worth and acceptance is so worth it!

What are you grateful for and what are you loving about yourself today?
